Rejection Proof

Rejection is a funny thing

We make every attempt possible to avoid it because it makes us feel terrible

It stays with us for a very long time

Who needs negative thoughts in their head?

We conjure up enough ourselves

Why seek out more to accompany them?

Especially if they are other people’s thoughts to start with and they just hand them over for you to look after for eternity

Cheers

Could really do without that

But can we?

I’ve come to the realisation that we actually need some rejection

We need to toughen our skin and protect ourselves through exposure

A bit like a vaccination

We need some of the nasty in us to prevent it from doing any long-term damage

I’ve recently started using a service for music artists called Submithub

It enables us to submit our music for inclusion in playlists and blogs or to be featured on the channels of social media influencers

You can imagine there’s a lot of rejection on this platform

In fact, it’s mostly rejection, with an average of only 4% acceptance (11% for paid submissions)

So, you really need to be ok with it

Not only will you get rejected but sometimes they will also rub salt into the wounds by telling you why

Ouch

The great thing is they have a credit system where you can pay for premium credits or use the limited amount of free credits

The free option allows for two credits every four hours

Curators require between one and three credits per submission

So, I set an alarm and every four hours submit my music for rejection

I’m starting to get ok with it now

I even had a couple that didn’t reject me which is a bonus

I’m working hard to build up my rejections

My first goal of 100 is within sight

Wish me luck
